Ingredients

  • Rice300g
  • Vermicelli Pasta70g
  • Chicken stock600ml
  • Vegetable oil3 tablespoons
  • Unsalted butter30g

Instructions

  1. Rinse and Soak Rice

    8 min

Begin by rinsing rice in a large bowl under cold running water, ensuring you drain it through a sieve until the water appears clear. This step is crucial for removing excess starch that can cause the rice to become gummy. Once rinsed, soak the rice in cold water for 10 minutes to help it cook evenly later on.

  2. Prepare Vermicelli

    8 min

In a medium pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until shimmering. Add the vermicelli and stir it continuously to ensure even browning; this should take about 2-3 minutes until it reaches a golden brown color. When done, remove the pan from the heat and mix in unsalted butter until it fully melts, allowing the mixture to cool for 1-2 minutes.

  3. Combine Ingredients to Cook

    14 min

After draining the soaked rice, add it into the pan with the browned vermicelli. Pour in chicken stock and season the mixture with ½ teaspoon of salt, stirring well to combine all the ingredients. Increase the heat to high until the mixture reaches a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 7-9 minutes. Once finished, remove from heat, cover with kitchen paper and the lid, and allow it to rest for 10 minutes before fluffing with a fork to serve.
